🎉 Congrats! You've Got Your First Job Through Yepstr!

After reviewing your great pitch and profile, you've now been selected for your first job. Rread more about how to make a great first impression on the job.

Here are some tips to help you prepare, do a great job, and follow up professionally. Good luck!

Preparing for the Job

Babysitting, tutoring, or dog walking—no matter what kind of job you've received, it's always important to prepare well. Read up on the job in advance and take tips from others who have done similar tasks.

Tips from yeps who’ve completed their first jobs:

Communication with the customer

The chat is a good place to get to know the customer and check that you understand what’s expected. Many find it easier to start the conversation digitally before the job begins.

Important Questions

When the job is confirmed, use the chat to ask any questions. For example:

  • What does the job involve?
  • Where should I meet you?
  • What should I bring?
  • Should I prepare anything?

During the Job

Once you’ve asked your questions and it’s time to get to work, remember that this is a real job. Be on time, introduce yourself properly, be polite, and wrap up the job nicely.

Introduction

A friendly introduction helps! Even if you're nervous, it’s a good idea to take a deep breath and say: “Hi, I’m [your name], I’m here for the job.”
Don’t forget to smile.

Work

Do your best and show initiative. Don’t be afraid to ask if you’re unsure! It’s better to ask too many questions than too few, especially if you’re hungry, thirsty, or unsure.

When Is the Job Done?

Talk to the customer in advance. What do they think a completed job looks like?

Examples of job endings:

  • Babysitting: Parent is back home
  • Tutoring: The student has understood the task
  • Gardening: As much as agreed (e.g. trimmed hedge, cleaned patio)
  • Event help: a spcific time
  • Pet sitting: You’ve returned and said goodbye

After the Job

It’s not just about how you did the job, it’s also about how you finish it. This is your chance to build a strong brand and get good reviews and future jobs.

Payment

Once the job is done, report time through the booking. Once the customer has paid you will receive your salary.

Ratings

After the job, both you and the customer leave reviews. If you do a great job and get high ratings, your level (and pay) will increase!

Follow-Up & Future Jobs

End the job by telling the customer you'd love to work with them again. A nice ending and a thank you can lead to future opportunities. Keeping the conversation going is how you get recommended for more jobs!
