1 000 000 hours

It was a strange feeling, passing the 1 million mark I'd been dreaming of, and then heading off on holiday. But it also gave me a chance to reflect a little while I was out sailing with my family.

One million hours that young people have worked through Yepstr.

Hard to wrap your head around, right? But out on the water, I started to see it differently. A million hours at this age is far from "just working hours." It's a million moments where a young person stepped into something new, took responsibility for a task, and got paid for their effort, often for the first time in their life.

For many, it's the first time they truly step outside their comfort zone. And as we all know, that's where the magic happens.

What 1 million hours actually means

1 million hours worked by our young people is about far more than extra cash. It's about far more than a line on a CV. It's homework help that turned into mentorship, garden work that brought generations (and cultures) together, and connections that lasted long after the job was done.

1 million hours worked at this age is 1 million opportunities to grow. 1 million reasons to feel a little proud, get feedback, and develop as a person. 1 million chances to show what you can do, but also 1 million moments to start preparing for adult life. Or, in short, 1 million hours of personal development. Paid, at that!

To me, 1 million hours is proof that it works. When young people get the chance, they take it. Again and again.
